YouTube's Music Key 12.2.2014

This morning, I read an article about YouTube's new streaming service, Music Key. While this is still in the beta phase, it's making waves (Yes, pun intended!). Daniel Harvey, Experience Design Director at SapientNitro talks about the battle of physical sales vs. streaming:
"Artist's have to get people to share rather than the one to one model..."
So, it looks like that funny old saying "sharing is caring" is coming around the music industry. We're talking about 182 billion streams, done through sharing. We've heard it over and over, physical sales are decreasing and have become a novelty and not the way we're listening everyday. Something to think about!

Neil Dawson, SapientNitro's Chief Strategy Officer, also offers a few words on the idea that more frequent releases to the streaming world may be found more effective than a long wait for a full album to be released. Music lovers are inundated with new music everyday, so it takes effort to keep them interested, and to keep your music on their radar!

The industry is going to continue to change, and we're going to see more push for streaming as this trend continues. Time to embrace it!
